Farm Toys for Babies and Toddlers

When you live on a farm and have two baby boys, all their gifts received seem to fit the farm, homestead theme. Maybe early exposure will help become farm hands sooner? Either way these are some of our favourites in our household.

If you’re looking for a holiday present, baby shower or birthday gift these toys are great options for young farmers.

Toys that include farm animals and sounds of course, books, bouncers, anything that keeps kids entertained. These toys were great helpers in keeping the young boys out of the kitchen over the winter and helped prepare them for a busy spring, summer and fall season on the farm.

I share with you our top 10 favourite farm toys as tested by my two boys 2 and under.

Top 10 Farm Toys

1. Funtime Tractor Toy

We opened this one early at 4 months as my elder niece and I couldn’t resist after trying the buttons in the box- including all animal sounds, old macdonald singalong, horn and a running tractor motion. My son knew all the animal noises by 1 year and by 18 months he could correctly match the animals to their sounds. This toy is well played with a couple times a week for a year and the batteries are still kicking! This by far is our families favourite farm toy!

2. Playnest Farm Covered Inflatable Ring

This was a favourite lounger for our 4-7 month old boy when he was working on sitting up. It was a great gift, They also have a playnest with gym attachment that I think the boys would have also really gotten excited about.

3. Fold and Go Barn

We love this toy, it comes with seven farm animals the kids can play with, but easily use their own figurines as well.

4. Stuffed Farm Animals

Stuffed animals are a classic gift, jelly cats are so soft and cuddly and the little goat is our absolute favourite.

5. John Deer Tractors

There are many tractor toys for boys to ride themselves and to play with. My 1.5 year old loved this tractor set.

6. ExerSaucer Bounce & Learn

I had to trade ours in when I saw this farm themed ExerSaucer. Watching a little 6 month old bounce up and down with their cubby little legs is priceless- especially when you record it in slow motion!

7. Nesting Barns & Animals

Barn themed nesting and sorting barns with barn animals
  • This match-and-stack set of 6 stacking barns with 6 wooden animals is always played with along side the Melissa and Doug packable barn as seen above. Little ones love stacking objects to see how they connect and relate, these barns are no different. We love rounding up the animals to put in the barn at night and singing our bedtime song, twinkle twinkle little star, to all our animal friends. It doesn’t get old! The babes can pair the pieces by size and number for exciting first-concepts practice.

8. Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Farm Animal Puzzle

A classic fisher price toy that I had as a kid. My mom still had it to share with the kids. Just the best!

9. Cow Hopper Toys

These hoppers are quite funny. Once my boys could walk, they were able to hop on their cow hopper.

10. Farm tool toys

Stihl Children’s Battery Operated Toy Chainsaw

The toy chainsaw, leaf blower, weed eater and lawn mower are a hit in our house. From inside and outside, to copying Dad do the lawn chores around the homestead these are a great life-like toy!

There’s toys then there’s books….

so many great ones, read here for our favourites
