My name is Diana and I’m a Vancouver Island homesteading mama, elementary school teacher and now blogger.
A little more about our family…
Living out in the country is where our hearts lie. We love to wake up to the crow of our roosters, and spend our days outside in the garden and tending to our chickens and Scottish highland fold.
We bought our 10 acre ranch in 2015. A little piece of paradise we could call our own on the foothills of a beautiful mountain range. With a few outbuildings and a neglected tiny farmhouse we started our journey in becoming self reliant homesteaders.
We work towards having a homestead that allows us to eat our own homegrown, organic, grass fed, food.
Here on the ranch, we raise a small Scottish Highland cattle fold, heritage breed chickens and our two young boys. We are starting an orchard, have a large vegetable garden and have started raising bees.
I’m always learning more about homesteading skills and how to make money from our homestead and enjoy sharing with my readers what I’ve learned.
Because Modern Homesteading isn’t easy work, but together we can make it easier.
I help others learn how to produce as much of your own food as possible from the garden, orchard and farmyard and share my favourite recipes for sharing and preserving your harvest.
